Housewarming - well, maybe we'll preheat it for you

We're having a housewarming open house on September 10th (which is also my birthday). If you're interested in coming, just email me for details @ Licafecad@gmail.com - my old UW address will stop working soon.

No-one at my work has heard of blogs before! Well, I'm being unfair-- all the people I've asked haven't, but they're the people I thought would have if any of 'em had. But they hadn't. Odd, huh? And when one guy saw me watching Homestar, he asked if I was playing games...

Ben and I are slowly getting settled. Our progress at unpacking has been slow, due to small household disasters such as the food disposal spewing up food and the clothes bar in the closet collapsing (which make interesting anecdotes around the table and over the phone), weekends full of social engagements such as other people's weddings, thank you notes to write, and suddenly needing a lot of sleep.

Ben's had headaches due to the frequent weather (and pressure) changing (poor guy), and my body's finally getting a chance to rest. Looking back, fall quarter I had a very busy school schedule. Winter quarter I was putting together my portfolio and applying for jobs and planning my wedding. Spring quarter I started working and kept at the wedding planning while finishing up school. I've gone from one stressful month to the other, until now!

It's luxurious, to only have to stay up late for recreational purposes, to have few deadlines and to get the eight hours recommended allotment. Maybe I can work my way to the smaller statistic of Americans that aren't deprived in this way!

Anyway, Ben's keeping a much more regular blog than I *gives a keyboard pat on the back* so I suggest reading his if you're interested in my life (for some reason I'm in it a lot!). Maybe he's been taking those prunes he mentioned. My computer JUST got set up in the condo, so that's my excuse. Now I just have to get the internet to work there...

Lisa (from work lunch break) signing off:)

BBB Haul

Ben and I had a shopping trip like none other last night! It went a little like this:

Setting: Bed, Bath and Beyond, the main place we registered for our wedding

2 Shopping carts overflowing with stuff = $67x.xx
w/ 20% off coupon -$12x.xx = $54x.xx
-$37x.xx in-store credit from returned items = $17x.xx
-$160 in gift cards =

only $13.88 that we had to pay!

And we got so many sweet things that we wanted but didn't get for our wedding, from a vacuum, to nice bed pillows, to a ladle, to a brita filter! Oh, it was glorious when we casually swiped a debit card for 14 dollars and walked out with all that stuff! Once in a lifetime, probably:)

Crepuscular

The word of the day!

"Crepuscular is a term used to describe animals that are primarily active during the twilight. Crepuscular is thus in contrast with diurnal and nocturnal."

Many crepuscular animals are mistaken to be nocturnal!

"Within the definition of crepuscular are the terms matutinal and vespertine, denoting animals active in the morning (dawn) and evening (dusk) respectively."

I think I might be inclined to be vespertine.

I'm an adult?

My favorite band of the month is Jupiter Sunrise – favorite songs “Josie’s House,” “Super X-ray Vision,” “September Girl,” and “Arthur Nix.” I listen to them over and over as I auto-CAD it out at work…

I’m starting to get over my work-antsyness, I think. For awhile it was really really hard to sit at a desk and, well, work, for hours on end. Now it’s just hard now and then, like at 4:00pm. I think this is partly that the rest of my life is less distracting—I’m not thinking about my wedding, or Raeleen’s wedding, or Raeleen’s flowers or rehearsal dinner or shower or bachelorette party or how there are tons of unpacked boxes at my house. Well, there are still boxes. But I’m making my peace with an unfinished state and not being the perfect housewife:) It’s hard to be a housewife when you work 40ish hours a week!

Ben writes a bit about Rae's wonderful and unique wedding at 802heaven.analogcafe.net. I'm so happy for her and Andy!
My wedding pictures came out quite lovely. I’ll have to post some later.

I think it’s also easier to work because simply because I’m adapting. And as I get further away from school, I’m becoming more interested in educating myself in architecture.

I’m planning on posting more often now that the majority of the craziness is over. Still have hundreds of thank you notes to write with Ben, a house to settle, and a social security card to update, but it will happen!

Hope you’re having a good summer, my readership,

Lisa Morrell
