Am I a hippie?

This week I planted a kitchen herb garden in a long planter. I’m also making plans to take a yoga class this quarter. I like hanging out in coffee shops, and I would consider myself semi-environmentalist.

So I just have to take up poetry-writing again and become a vegetarian and my new image will be complete! Only I can’t see myself ever becoming a vegetarian—-animals are just too tasty.

It’s true, I’ve gone and gotten myself a job. After many long evenings editing my resume, photoshopping my portfolio (example page) and googling “Seattle architecture job” I had three interviews and two job offers. I cancelled the next two interviews I had scheduled and took the job that starts part-time next week. 12 dollars an hour, baby! Some may think it ain’t much for a college grad, but it more than I’ve ever made before (compare to the $85 a week camp counseling position for example) and I’ll be on a larger salary and benefits when I graduate.

Thank God my delicate teeth will still receive their due dental attention!

More specifics: The firm is SynThesis PC, a 6-person firm in downtown Bellevue. In an office park near Best Buy. The principle and I hit it off during my interview (hehe— or should I say “internview”) and he complimented my confidence and attitude in my offer letter. While the projects this firm receives are not always on a grand scale I do believe that the size of this firm and the fantastic personalities of the 3 people I’ve met thus far will make this a far better job than I would have in a huge firm. I should get some great experience by watching and learning, and I won’t be only a measly-boring part of some mega-process.

They are also remodeling the building Crossroads Bible church used to meet in, so that the acoustic qualities of the sanctuary are improved, which of course holds some personal interest to me.

Yayness! I’ll miss Seattle for sure, but being near church and Ben and I’s families will be nice.

Also, school started today. More on my classes later. To God be the glory for his faithfulness! His mercy and justice are mysteriously perfect.

Coming live from the fiance...

It's been a really busy week(s)! Lisa's been a little too busy to post anything on her blog, so I thought I would take the time and fill you in on what has been going on in her life.

Lisa got a job! Synthesis PC architects in Bellevue. (Which means we now have to start looking for a place to live in Bellevue, which means if you happen to see any apartments around the Bellevue area to let us know!)

This past week has been full of wedding planning. From the guest list (which is expanding at rather rapid rates) to tuxes, my(Ben) ring and gift registries! A lot of questions asked and a lot of decisions made.

Today Lisa's family is coming over to my(Ben) parents house for Easter dinner. I'm sure Lisa will give you more detail when she has it! =)

This is guest writer Ben "my fiance" Morrell signing off.

By the grace of God, here I stand

The cherry blossoms growing directly off the trunk of a tree make me laugh

I wonder if a double shot would actually wake me up?

Why did I ever want to be an architect?

yay! the Monorail might actually get built! Seattle may be saved yet!

The sun through the skylight hits my drafting desk at about 2pm. Spot of heaven:)

Raeleen's going to Hawaii over spring break. Lucky duck:)

Friends Season 9 comes out Tuesday. Debate: watch it and mentally block-out the morally-questionable parts of the entertainment, or live in suspense as to what happens with Joey and Rachel?

Wondering why Seattle liberals tend to be so prejudiced and hateful when they talk about politics? Their attitude seems to go against their beliefs of tolerance and unity, etc... I vote both ways, but the liberals around here scare me. Are Republicans the same way where they are dominant?

I'm getting married in four months!!!

Should I go out to celebrate with my studiomates the night before my last final?

No sleep last night, some small amount tonight, non-ish the night after. Spring break+Lisa= 12 hours of sleep/night 4ever!

Funny how I can sing along with so many songs on the radio now... that just goes to show that I've been in the studio too much.

Two down!

No, that doesn't refer to my homeworkload. I wish. No, I had two job interviews yesterday!

The first was like most other interviews I've been through. Slightly uncomfortable, aware that, unknowingly, I might be shooting myself in the foot at any given moment... acutely feeling my inexperience in the "real world". If working at this firm were my only option I'd certainly take it, but the vibe from this office felt alien.

The second was three times as long, by virtue of a long conversation with the principle on everything from my volunteering last summer to his college thesis statement. I received an enthusiastic office tour and after I showed off my portfolio he showed me some of the office portfolio in return.

I was also told that I seemed competent for the job, which is the opposite feeling I got from the first interview. And that I would be a good personality fit!

I'll let you know where I interviewed after I find a job. There are more interviews to come... but for now, live in suspense!

I do.

I know two people in the computer lab right now!

Suddenly there is not enough of me for all the things that need doing. Please pray that I find an invincibility star in a colorful box.
